Fans of contemporary dance shouldn’t miss the latest work by London based choreographer Renaud Wiser. After cutting his teeth with illustrious companies such as Rambert and the Geneva Ballet, he set up his own company, whose work is known for its physicality and intricacy of movement. After winning a Dance City Commission last year, they are about to present this high energy and thought provoking double bill which combines dance, theatre, live music and film.

Who Killed Bambi? celebrates people who go against the grain, as it’s based on recent stories in politics of people standing up against governments and the consequences of those actions. Expect stunning set design and beautiful imagery (think packs of wolves and a bizarre dinner party).

One explores the themes of illusion and deceit, a solo work which questions the perception of the dancer. I’ve been watching the rehearsals online and the physicality of the performers is amazing.

One and Who Killed Bambi? come to Newcastle’s Dance City on Saturday 7th February.
