Reliably informed

They’ve toured with the likes of The Skints, Scroobius Pip, Gentleman’s Dub Club and The Beat but Bristol-based reggae-rock group Regime have decided to play a very intimate gig at Newcastle’s cosy Bar Loco. You might be thinking that the heavy bass lines, slick hip hop production and danceable grooves that the band have built their reputation on might be a bit much for the tiny venue but that’s where you could be wrong.

In these uncertain times, more and more bands are either openly talking about serious social and political issues or hinting at them in their lyrics. Regime are no different, discussing such wide ranging issues as drug abuse, arms dealing and government oppression in a politically conscious way, with a touch of wry humour on the side. The small upstairs room of Bar Loco seems like the perfect place to take in the lyrical twists and turns of a band who effortlessly mix commentary with the party grooves we all want to hear on a Saturday night.

Regime come to Bar Loco, Newcastle on Saturday 17th October.
