While Sam Duckworth’s previous incarnation Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly has landed, dropped cape and put cape back in wardrobe, his new project Recreations sees him settle midway between his old sound and the experimental tracks he’s worked on more recently with the likes of Shy FX and Baba Maal.

In his own words it’s “more heart on sleeve” than before, but Duckworth has never really been a shrinking violet when it comes to expressing his thoughts, and has a reputation for fiercely speaking out against social injustices as evidenced on his recent EP, Digital Ghetto, which came out back in February.

The upcoming release of his new album Baby Boomers 2 on Xtra Mile Records promises to up the ante in terms of musical experimentation and smart lyrical wordplay. If new single Neoprene is anything to go by, as it sways between lo-fi keyboards, strummed guitar and grooving neo-funk, we’ll be in for a treat.

The record is released on 29th April but North East audiences will be able to preview it live at Stockton’s Green Room on Friday 22nd April.
