Spoken word and poetry can be thrilling in its rawest form. Allowing its creator to flex their vocabulary, construct epic tales and send the audience on a wild adventure just through words alone. But it’s also possible to add a much more visual element to these written and spoken constructions that can make the experience even more magical. Apples and Snakes NE are hosting a “filmpoem” workshop at Teesside University on Saturday 24th January, where you can add more visual elements to your works.

Within a single day, the team at Apples and Snakes want to help you explore the art of storyboarding, filming footage and editing to create a filmpoem. You don’t need a lot to get started, just a poem of your own, a video camera (even a decent smartphone will do!), paper, pens and pencils and a laptop with some form of editing software (like iMovies). And, of course, you’ll also need the most important piece of the puzzle: your own voice.

If you are interested in attending the workshop then get in touch with Kirsten at Apples and Snakes NE to confirm a place: kirsten@applesandsnakes.org.
