Reliably informed

With the Edinburgh Festival in full swing, most of our best comedians are across the border delighting audiences from near and afar. Back here in the north east, though, we’re still being treated to some top quality comedy performances and Punch Drunk Comedy’s latest run of three rib-tickling shows are the perfect way to begin the week. Spread across three days, the shows are being compered by Andrew Stanley while the comedy promoters’ own Kai is off in the Scottish capital. Excitingly, the three shows are also spread further across the region. Monday’s performance is held in Blyth’s Newsham Working Men’s Social Club but Tuesday sees the action move to the Netherton Club in Bedlington and on Wednesday they’ll be rolling up at Ashington’s Whitehouse Unique Social Club.

But what of the acts? Well, they’re of the usual high standard we’ve come to expect from Punch Drunk. Blyth and Bedlington will be treated to the hilarious stand-up of Marlon Davis, Steffen Peddie and Barry Twyford. Meanwhile, in Ashington, David will be joined by Chris Washington and a special guest (whoever they are, we can guarantee they’ll tickle your ribs in just the right way). If you haven’t been fortunate to get to Edinburgh this year, Punch Drunk have your comedy needs sorted this week.

Punch Drunk Comedy comes to Blyth’s Newsham Working Men’s Club on Monday 17th August, Bedlington’s Netherton Club on Tuesday 18th August and Ashington’s Whitehouse Unique Social Club on Wednesday 19th August.
