The ongoing romance between The Cluny and American garage rock institution Castle Face Records (better known to most as ‘the record label run by that guy out of Oh Sees’) has seen a steady pipeline of their acts hit the venue, from the fuzz-filled hooks of Flat Worms and the much missed rhythmic idiosyncrasies of D.U.D.S. to the surreal synth rock of Pow!

Next on the list is Prettiest Eyes, and be assured that their Cluny visit on Wednesday 11th March is going to be one of the most potent and strange to emerge from this Transatlantic alliance to date.

The most recent Prettiest Eyes album, last year’s Vol 3., found the trio of Pachy García, Paco Casanova and Marcos Rodríguez continue to push at the limits of their guitar-free sound. On tracks like Johnny Come Home the effect is likely some ungodly alliance between Silver Apples and Chuck Berry, yet as they push on further out on songs like the dizzying Marihuana and Another Earth, the trio’s queasy retro-futuristic psych warps into some striking and surprising new shapes.

With their live show gaining them plaudits around the world for their post-Alan Vega visions, be sure not to miss out on your mid-week dose of freak scene inspiration.
