Did you miss out on Popklubb’s last Belle and Sebastian extravaganza? Have no fear: the club night are holding another shindig celebrating the works of the Scottish alt-pop maestros at St Dominic’s in Newcastle on Saturday 7th January.

Belle and Sebastian are releasing their latest LP Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance on Monday 19th January, so the event is extremely well timed. Even if you’re not that big of a fan of their latest disco-influenced direction, you’ll probably have a hard time keeping off the dancefloor when The Party Line comes on. Of course, expect some classic quirky tunes in the shape of The Boy With The Arab Strap, I’m A Cuckoo and The State I Am In (hopefully not what anyone will be saying after a few too many pints).

But, if you’re not completely bowled over by Belle and Sebastian then don’t worry, there’s still plenty more on the menu to delight your earbuds; Popklubb will also be playing a selection of tunes from some of the band’s influences, including Love, Lovin’ Spoonful, Felt and Orange Juice, as well as bands that have been influenced by the Scots. So if you’re feeling sinister, relax: there’s plenty on offer even for the most cynical of punters.

Popklubb’s Belle and Sebastian Special takes place at St Dominic’s in Newcastle on Saturday 17th January.
