Ever wish that we could celebrate the majesty of words and images together more? Ever feel like you want to get involved with making your own poetry and then spend an evening watching some of the region’s finest masters at work to get some additional inspiration? Apples and Snakes are offering just the opportunity for you, as they host a free day of workshops and performances on Teesside.

Throughout the day at Stockton’s Arc, they’ll be hosting a series of flash workshops where you can cut, paste and create your own mini poetry books, one-line collages, found poems and poetry badges (if cut and paste is good enough for David Bowie, who’s to complain?) There will also be spoken word performances by Selkirk Ayres, Jane Burn and Carmen Thompson, which are all accompanied by live illustrations from Burn and Kim McDermott. At the end of the day’s events you can sit back and relax as the best entrants from the Read Our Lips Filmpoem competition are screened. If you’re a seasoned writer or a budding poet, there’ll be something for everyone to take away from the experience.

Poetry PLUS! takes place at Stockton’s Arc on Saturday 28th March.
