Hartlepool four-piece PLAZA are certainly on a path to a big and bright future. One of the next stepping stones they’re currently moving past is a big one too; and the release of their debut single Totem is matched with a music video to accompany the acclaimed track.

The quartet only formed in 2015, and have kicked on so much in such a short space of time. Their intelligent, math rock influenced take on anthemic indie is fascinating, and makes for an incredible listen as their confidence as musicians continues to grow. The video has an understated charm which fits perfectly alongside the new song; the fact they cut their teeth on grungy skateboarding videos is very evident, and the gritty style is nice addition to their sound. Aesthetically it’s very straightforward, which sums up the band and their love for 90s alternative culture, but it’s the song as ever that shines through, as another slice of sharp, post-indie comes courtesy of PLAZA.

You can watch the video for Totem below.
