Reliably informed

Forgive the crappy pun, but PINS are sharp. From the unmistakable Warhol-esque aesthetic to the Brooklyn-inflected swagger of their contagious garage rock, this is a band who know what they’re about.

Effortlessly cool and unashamedly direct in their message, the Mancunian trio are the kind of people you want to be when you grow up. With the best part of a decade behind them, the group are well-versed in their art, but whereas the man who inspired their fashion sense was heavily interested in cans of Campbell’s soup, PINS seem much more concerned with cans of whip-smart rock ’n’ roll whoop-ass, and in particular, how to open them.

The ladies make the trip up North from the rainy Pennines to play Sunderland’s fabulous Independent on Friday 28th February, and you can bet your last dime that they’re going to have their tin-opener at the ready.

Laboured analogies aside, if you’re still not convinced about whether to get yourself down or not, just know that they’ve rubbed shoulders with legendary punk forefather Iggy Pop in the past. Everybody’s favourite shirtless septuagenarian featured on the wonderful Aggrophobe a couple of years back, and as far as endorsements go, what more could you want?
