The opening track on Piano Wire’s debut eight track EP The Genius of the Crowd is called ‘I’ll Kill You,’ presumably with a long, thin but deadly strand of, well, piano wire. You probably have a good idea of where this is all heading now. One of London’s latest exports features members of Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disasters and have already played with the likes of Fufanu in their home city but are now on a highly extensive tour of the UK to bring their murderous tunes to the country.

Like their previous group, the band are ardent purveyors of goth-punk but Piano Wire don’t feel like a simple carbon copy of Eighties Matchbox. Instead, they beef up of the gothic vibes with more grungy tendencies and a whole host of clashing drums that border on the hardcore. They’ll give your heart a jumpstart with their brand of rock and it’s hard to think how they’ll contain it all in the relatively intimate space of Think Tank. Expect some heavy vibrations and goosebumps from all that goth noise.

Piano Wire play at Think Tank, Newcastle on Saturday 5th September.
