Following an open call for submissions, Abject Gallery have selected a winner for their 2017 experimental studio residency: the multi-faceted Peter Doubt. Standing out amongst dozens of applicants from over 19 countries for his artistic fluidity, Doubt has been awarded the opportunity to set up an open studio in Bamburgh house, with free reign to create and expand upon his ideas. This experimental residency will last for a total of three weeks – during which time visitors are encouraged to come and view the artist at work – before the launch night of his debut exhibition on Friday 16th August.

Described in somewhat ambiguous terms as both a “creative practitioner” and “prolific ideas generator”, Doubt will utilise his public-facing studio environment to create works that span a multitude of artistic mediums, rather than limit himself to a singular creative method. Whilst little more has been revealed of his work (presumably to maintain an ambiguous, experimental tone), a single image of a vintage Amstrad home computer is the only imagery that has been released to accompany the exhibition. Peter Doubt’s residency will be on show to members of the public until Saturday 26th August.
