If you’ve never been to a gig at the region’s finest washer of unmentionables-come-gig venue, then there’s no better time to pop your Old Cinema Launderette cherry than this month. They’ve got a series of typically intimate gigs coming up from some of the hottest talents from around the country. Kicking off this month’s delights are folky duo Paper Aeroplanes, last seen in the region playing at Think Tank just a few months ago.

Singer Sarah Howells and guitarist Richard Llewellyn released their latest album in March, which saw them bringing more rhythmic and electronic elements to their cosy sound. Despite this, it’s still a beautifully intimate and heartfelt experience to listen to the duo and their already spectacular live performances have been bolstered by the presence of the newer material. Howells has said in the past that Paper Aeroplanes’ music is all about human connection. Well, it doesn’t get much more connected than listening to the duo amongst the washers and very boutique crowd.

Paper Aeroplanes play at Old Cinema Launderette, Durham on Friday 11th September.
