Gigs don’t normally come outside of the usual purpose-built venues. Across my own lifetime, I’ve never experienced a proper gig outside of an actual music venue, except for the one time when I found someone playing covers of Oasis songs in a public toilet in Manchester. It makes you wonder why we don’t make better use of the weird and wonderful spaces that we encounter in everyday life; it’s something that new website Gigiti has picked up on for their rather off-the-wall event, On The Right Tracks, in Central Station on Friday 27th March. The website, which aims to help grassroots musicians and independent venues book gigs, as well as helping local fans to find them, is putting on a showcase of local talent within the historic location to delight commuters. Confirmed acts so far include Charlie Dancer, Connor Pattison, Olivia Devine, Back Into The Wild and Laura Paul.

Gigiti are still looking for three more artists to perform at the mini-festival, so are running a delightfully quirky competition to find their trio of bands. The winners will not only receive a spot at the On The Right Tracks on the 27th, but they will also have their set filmed by UGOT and sent to Jamal Edwards of SB.TV, the man who discovered Ed Sheeran. They’ll also be given access to artist development support from Generator. The deadline for the competition is Friday 20th March.

To enter the competition, email a video of you or your band playing in an unusual location to info@gigiti.com.

More information about the event and how to apply can be found at Gigiti’s Facebook page.
