Taking place as part of Independent Venues Week, Tees Music Alliance will be spearheading Stockton’s first music conference on Friday 31st January at The Georgian Theatre.

The event comes off the back of their already sterling reputation for artist development, which in 2019 saw TMA work alongside regional artists to help them progress in the industry. Which, among other things, saw them open up the first slot at Stockton Calling to submissions from regional artists (and discovering some real gems in the process), begin weekly drop-in clinics and partner with us here at NARC. for the music industry advice sessions Tues-DIY – not to mention their involvement in showcase events like Songs From Northern Britain, Visions and SIRF fringe gigs.

“We’ve been beavering away quietly behind the scenes for more years than we’d care to remember offering advice and tips to the music activists that we work with. We took a slightly different route this year with some very well attended drop in sessions and a hugely successful series of music industry round tables in partnership with NARC. – and On Point is part of that new approach.” Says TMA’s Paul Burns.

On Point will be a day of discussion and networking which will help steer music creators in the right direction. “We have a great line-up of guests to give us the benefit of their experiences – alongside some familiar faces from the Teesside music scene – all coming together to discuss how we build and maintain a thriving scene for our area.” Paul explains.

Panel discussions, roundtable conferences, ‘meet the expert’ one-to-ones and music workshops will give musicians, artists and promoters all the tools they need to succeed, and open up the discussion on the wider music scene.

“The key to On Point is having people come along and influence the local music manifesto – it’s about working together in a coordinated way to create something that works for us all; not just following trends and patterns from elsewhere.”

Live music from local talent will take place throughout the event and into the evening, with speakers and performers announced over the coming weeks. Check out the Georgian Theatre’s website and social media pages for more info.
