Get ready to dive in and explore the wonders of the ocean! Except on this voyage, you won’t need a wetsuit or snorkel. The Ocean Film Festival World Tour is returning to Playhouse Whitley Bay on Friday 16th September and once again it’s set to get your pulses racing with incredible cinematography, insightful interviews and stunning visions of everything aquatic.

As ever, there’s a range of topics being explored. Kayaking The Aleutians looks at a seemingly impossible challenge undertaken by British explorers Justine Curgenven and Sarah Outen, who attempt to paddle 2500km along a chain of islands in Alaska. The Accord also focuses on sports, looking into the life of Iceland’s only professional surfer, Heiðar Logi Elíasson. Moving into warmer waters, join Corentin de Chatelperron in Gold of Bengal as he travels around deserted islands with a variety of homemade contraptions. Getting a bit meta, The Halls gives a glimpse into the careers of the world’s best underwater filmmakers, able to capture animal behaviours that are rarely seen.

Whether it’s on the waves or under the sea, there’s something to ignite the oceanologist in everyone.
