As we allow our thoughts to shift towards summer, marking gigs in the diary becomes a priority as some real treats will be announced around festival season. Few gigs will make a bigger splash than the epic weekender just announced, featuring 90s Britpop legends Ocean Colour Scene and Shed Seven; which takes place at Times Square, Newcastle on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st July.

With the open air gig something massively different for North East music fans, the announcement that the two indie pop stalwarts will both be playing on the Saturday is huge and should make for quite the spectacular show. Kicking off at 2pm and wrapping up at 11pm, it’ll be a full day of magnificent musical entertainment, as Ocean Colour Scene will bring some of the best Britpop anthems ever; songs like The Riverboat Song and The Day We Caught The Train sure to get everyone jumping. Shed Seven have a similar back catalogue of solid gold, with guitar driven indie anthems making for a wondeful atmosphere.

The event also features local favourites Hyde and Beast, whose brand of retro pop-rock is a perfect addition to the line-up. With announcements of who’ll feature on the Sunday expected very soon too, all that’s left is to hope the sun is shining over Newcastle that weekend.
