When is a pub quiz not quite a pub quiz? When the questions are presented via performance theatre, since you ask.

For one night only, Hull-based theatre company Middle Child will be bringing their highly successful formula – described as Shooting Stars + The Big Fat Quiz + Generation Game – to Sunderland’s trendy Dun Cow pub on Thursday 21st May. Theatrical performance, comedy, riddles, sketches and live music will be combined to create one hilarious (and interactive) show.

The premise is simple: audiences get to watch what’s happening on stage, all the while trying to answer various questions…not as easy as it sounds, we are assured. And given its Vic and Bob influences, the questions promise to be anything but conventional, with participants competing for a variety of brilliantly bonkers prizes.

Middle Child will also be performing rib-tickling new show Weekend Rockstars at Sunderland University’s North Shore on Friday 28th May which also includes a performance from retro-popsters Hyde & Beast. Both shows are part of the Sunderland Stages initiative, which strives to bring fresh new theatre, dance and spoken word to venues across Sunderland.

Not Quite A Pub Quiz takes place at The Dun Cow, Sunderland on Thursday 21st May.
