Reliably informed

The North East punk scene has always had an infectious, vibrant energy that has kept it going and thriving, and three exponents of that often fast and furious sound are collected together on the same bill (alongside one of Sheffield’s finest) at Pop Recs, Sunderland on Saturday 23rd April.

No Cross are Sunderland natives, so it’s a hometown gig for the angsty quartet; their frenetic musicianship is sure to go down a storm. Durham’s Pale Kids have a wonderfully poppy edge to their sound, it’s hard not to get utterly drawn in by it; their bouncy melodies a perfect change of pace in the line-up. Bonetti are the out of towners on the bill, and they bring something a little unique in turn, more down tempo tracks with a dark, experimental twist, they’ll be sure to impress anyone who hasn’t heard them before. Rounding it all out are Newcastle favourites Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaind, one of the most honed bands the North East has to offer, emotive post-punk that is sure to transfix even better in this perfect setting live.
