After four years of arduous study and development, fifty students are all set to complete their degrees in Fine Art from Newcastle University. Their graft concludes with this – a display of works in the University art department and the nearby Great North Museum, providing you with the perfect opportunity to take in the work of the potential bright lights of tomorrow’s art world before the show moves to the big smoke of London later in the month.

Taking place from Friday 2nd until Saturday 17th June, the exhibition is a multi-disciplined affair taking in a diverse set of practices and media including painting, new media, film, video, sculpture, photography, print, sound, performance and installation.

The university was recently rated as the highest ranked institution in the UK for Art and Design by the Sunday Times University Guide. This accolade goes hand in hand with the history of fine art in Newcastle – artists such as Lawrence Gowing, Richard Hamilton, Victor Pasmore, Roy Ascott, Sean Scully and Susan Hille have distinguished association with the city, and there’s a chance that some of these students may go on to add their name to that illustrious list.

Newcastle University Fine Art Degree Show takes place at Great North Museum, Newcastle from Friday 2nd until Saturday 17th June.
