Spurred on by the desire to give artists the chance to talk to one another and share their experiences of the creative industry, author Guy Mankowski has devised an innovative new night: New Art Social. Bringing together a dynamic blend of new and established writers, poets and artists sharing their work through a series of readings and panel discussions, the event at Quilliam Brothers Tea House in Newcastle aims to give an insight into the artistic processes of others.

Taking place on Saturday 3rd February, the bill includes Louisa Rogers, founder of international fashion line Trendlistr, who will be joined by fellow designer Melanie Kyles for an engaging, enlightening discussion on commercialising creativity, while former ballerina Genna Godley will be sharing her poetry about “weirding the human body”. ‘Silly local myths’ are set to be dispelled by the poems of David Bell, while Ryan de Leon explores the relationship between identity and place and Greg Forrester reads a magic realist piece. Mankowski himself – who is also set to embark on a series of three events in Newcastle and Sunderland examining a variety of topics over the coming months – will also be reading from his new novel.
