NANI∞GURU are a psychedelic astro-trance duo comprised of Acid Mothers Temple drummer Satoshima Nani and guitarist Kawabata Makoto, who’s no stranger to the region’s music venues. Their sound is frenetic, dense and packed with energy; infusing a typically experimental Japanese sound with the sort of hard rock undertones that ought to make them right at home in one of Newcastle’s most revered underground late-night hang-outs Trillians, where they play on Monday 3rd June.

It’s something of a rarity to catch them at such close quarters, with a recent tour having taken then as far afield as Mexico and Japan. The band’s second album is forthcoming later this year on French label Bam Balam Records and the Bordeaux-based label has an impressive discography dating back to 1982, so it’s safe to assume that NANI∞GURU’s second record will be as warmly received as their first, VOVIVIZM, which garnered impressive reviews.

Promoted by local noise advocates Inverted Grim-Mill Recordings and Infinity Mirror Records, NANI∞GURU are exactly the sort of alternative noisemakers that will thrill psych, dance and experimental fans alike. If you’re looking for yet more off-the-wall collaborations, a unique partnership between Mobius, Drooping Finger, Stealing Kittens and Forest Mourning – aka Disappointments – will act as support.
