Durham continues to be a hotbed of weird musical goodness, with bands like hotly tipped punks Pale Kids, DIY popsters Martha and ‘barely rap’ outfit Outside Your House flying the flag for alternative sounds.

Promoters Equestrian Collective are at the forefront of some scorching gigs in the city, bringing the likes of Philadelphia’s power pop band Radiator Hospital, Scottish indie pop quartet The Spook School and revered filmmaker and musician Eric Ayotte to the region, not to mention giving local acts prominent support.

The collective’s next show, at Durham’s Empty Shop HQ on Saturday 16th April, consists of their usual mixture of noisy, quirky and punky acts. Topping the bill are Sheffield’s Nachthexen, whose dark alt. rock is riddled with synth joy; London-based Camp Shy’s endearingly catchy pop; plus Newcastle’s very own shouty synth upstarts Tough Tits also grace the bill.

Nachthexen, Camp Shy and Tough Tits play Durham’s Empty Shop HQ on Saturday 16th April.
