Roll up, roll up, come and see the delights of Mr Shindig’s Comedy Emporium, the extravaganza of jokes and jollity that descends upon Newcastle’s Cumberland Arms each month!

Just over a week before Christmas, on Saturday 16th December, the comedy promoters will present a jam-packed feast that’s bound to tickle your funny bone. After a year of making it up as he goes along, Seymour Mace is headed to the bash for what could either be a regular stand-up gig or an on-the-spot performance of Zulu Dawn (minus Peter O’Toole). Seymour’s joined by Sammy Dobson, who brought her show Listless to this year’s Jesterval, using a killer combo of administration, bingo and animal facts to blame all her romantic failings on anyone but herself. After kick-starting his comedy career while at university in Edinburgh, John Whale is also on the bill, as is our very own Si Beckwith, who brings his witty mix of surrealism and pop culture-led commentary. Rounding off the night is Liberty Hodes, while MCs Joby Mageean and Hal Branson will be steering the good ship comedy throughout the night.

It’s also a pay-what-you-feel event; just don’t pay per laugh though – you might end up out of pocket!
