It’s been a mighty fine year for Billingham duo Mouses, going from strength to strength, there could be a very easy argument put forward for them being the North East’s breakout band of 2016. They’re set to end the year on a high too, as part of a quartet of awesome bands playing Newcastle’s Head Of Steam on Saturday 17th December.
The fuzzy pop duo are joined by fellow quirky popsters Baker Island, another band who’ve had an awesome year, with the five-piece ever growing into one of the region’s most respected bands and sumptuous live acts. With both bands having a gift for joyously off-kilter melodies and beguiling indie pop, this is how to mark a mighty fine year for North East music. With the darker post-punk vibes of New Horror and Novyi Lef being one of the region’s newest names on the circuit, there’s a smattering of all things good at this show, and a reason (or four) to get very excited for what 2017 has in store.
