Brand new record label, studio and art house mono will be celebrating their launch this week, with a special party at Newcastle’s Ernest.

Aiming to collaborate with artists from any genre across the North, the project is spearheaded by local musician Mick Ross (Frankie & The Heartstrings, Minotaurs), Kaiser Chiefs’ production manager James Hennin and designer Jonathon Hamilton. Their first release will be a split 12” by two local artists, Ajimal (pictured) and Tessera Skies, with remixes included by Lanterns On The Lake and Dutch Uncles. Keen for the label to be seen supporting quality acts as well as superior formats, the release is due on 180 gram vinyl, with a strong correlation with art and design also important for the imprint.

Such a project deserves an official bash, and the Ouseburn Valley’s Ernest provides the space for an intimate get-together on Saturday 29th November featuring DJ sets from Kaiser Chiefs’ Peanut, Lionrock’s Roger Lyons and Tel Herbert. “We’re all looking forward to the launch,” they tell us, “it will be great to showcase two great artists, the first mono release, artwork plus some top DJ’s from the mono collective.”
