Picture the scene: your band has packed out every decent local venue, you’ve got rave reviews across the board, you’re on the cusp of superstardom…yet how attainable is that next step? It’s a familiar problem for many musicians, but the good news is that PRS Foundation’s Momentum Music Fund is here to help, with a grant of up to £15k to help artists break through to the next level of their careers.

It’s not all about the money though, expert advice is on hand too, which is where their Momentum Day, taking place at Newcastle’s Toffee Factory on Monday 12th September can help to set you on the road to success. A panel event (taking place from 12pm) will offer advice on the current funding climate, with experts from PRS Foundation, cultural development agency Generator, record label Moshi Moshi, national press (DIY magazine) and regional press (yours truly!) giving tips on getting funding ready, building a buzz and maintaining it. Bands who have been successful in applying for funding in the past include the region’s own Boy Jumps Ship, who will also be on hand to share their experiences.

See the fruits of the band’s labours in the live arena later that night, as Boy Jumps Ship and alt. folk songwriter Luke Sital Singh (another Momentum alumni) play The Cluny from 7pm.
