Local promoters Minus Me are on top form this December, with two stellar consecutive North East gigs for punk and garage rock fans. Nostalgia abounds on Thursday 3rd December as the legendary Theatre Of Hate bring their snarling post-punk to Stockton’s Georgian Theatre. Formed in 1980 by Kirk Brandon from the ashes of heralded punk band The Pack, Theatre Of Hate’s debut album Westworld was recorded with The Clash’s Mick Jones and the band supported the likes of The Clash and Ian Dury before imploding in 1982. Having resurfaced to join The Damned at London’s Roundhouse in December 2013, Theatre Of Hate are now back on the touring circuit with a new studio album expected for 2016.

The following evening of Friday 4th December sees Minus Me take over The Cumberland Arms, Newcastle for a headline show from garage rockers The Fallen Leaves (pictured). Formed in 2004 by Rob Symmons, an early member of British punks The Subway Sect, the band favour DIY ethics, recording live with no overdubs and minimal technology to create pop played with passion rather than precision. It’s a method that’s clearly worked, given that the band are currently working on their fourth album and compiling a vinyl only Greatest Hits collection.

Theatre Of Hate play Georgian Theatre, Stockton on Thursday 3rd and The Fallen Leaves play Newcastle’s Cumberland Arms on Friday 4th December.
