Reliably informed

Lyricist and fiddle player Jamie Lockhart plies his trade from the North coast of Scotland, having learnt to play as a child in the Highlands. Now expanded to a five-piece by likeminded musician friends from Wakefield and Leeds, his Mi Mye project will be coming to Stockton’s Green Room on Saturday 15th June as part of only two scheduled dates at present, so it’s not to be missed.

With Jamie’s kind of upbringing it will be no surprise Mi Mye leans heavily on the folk storytelling rooted so indelibly in Scottish heritage to produce beautiful songs of empathy and hope. Having already been compared to Sparklehorse, The National and Will Oldham the full band line-up broadens Jamie’s spectral horizon to create an intricate musical chemistry, at times life-affirming and at others downright heartbreaking, enveloped by the singer’s longing lyrics. Last year’s The Mountain Forces The Future, And The Force Causes The Rain album garnered acclaim from the likes of Drowned in Sound and CLASH and is a lush collection of wistful indie rock. Subtly masterful, the album gently unfolds like the first flowers of spring and is perfect for fans of fellow Scots Frightened Rabbit and (mid-period) Idlewild. Another great booking for the region from Tees Music Alliance.
