They’ve been described as a successful curiosity, as well as establishing themselves as one of the most prominent and accomplished acts of a reinvigorated folk music scene. Now Billingham-based folk stars Megson return to the North East of England for what promises to be an intimate night of music at the Sage Gateshead on Saturday 7th February.

Consisting of husband and wife duo Stuart and Debbie Hanna, Megson have come to be defined by Debbie’s gorgeous, almost classically defined vocals mixed in with the sentimental guitar work of Andrew in a harmonious unison which only gains more sentiment thanks to the emotional connection between the two. Megson have also never been afraid to take chances musically, showcasing within their illustrious portfolio everything from classic Victorian folk through to songs showcasing their admiration for their local North East Culture. The band have received almost unanimous praise folk music critics and wider music critics alike, three times nominated at the BBC Folk Music Awards and earning praise from such industry luminaries as Radio 2 stalwart Bob Harris. This promises to be a wonderful event which will please both folk and casual music fans alike.

Megson play at the Sage Gateshead on Saturday 7th February.
