Reliably informed

The Netherlands is something of a breeding ground for super-heavy rock at the minute. A few weeks ago The Central welcomed For I Am King to their premises, who proceeded to cause carnage. Now they’re preparing to do it all again on Saturday 28th February when they welcome Mary Fields to Gateshead.

Mary Fields are brilliantly bat shit. Combining mathcore with metal, jazz and prog into their music, their tunes often become a melting pot of genres that’s decidedly heavy but frantically unique and reckless. Fans of the Dillinger Escape Plan and Converge will lap their intense stage presence up. Joining them on the night are local metal heads All At Sea, who are similarly fond of a monstrous groove underlying their aggressive take on ballsy rock. Scottish technical wizards The Colour Pink Is Gay round off the bill with their noisy fusion of metal, slude, doom and jazz (yes, really!) Expect a crushing night of rock with just a dash of unique experimentalism.

Mary Fields, All at Sea and The Colour Pink is Gay play at The Central Bar, Gateshead, on Saturday 28th February.
