This month sees the release of a split 7” from Durham pop punk band Martha (pictured) and Philadelphian lo-fi rockers Radiator Hospital, which happily coincides with their UK tour, rocking up to Durham’s Empty Shop on Sunday 8th November.

Radiator Hospital’s side of the split comprises of three new tracks featuring Sam Cook-Parrott’s crooning, easy-going falsetto. All of their offerings come in at under two minutes, but the band pack a terrific pop rock punch into each short track. Night Out is true home-spun power pop, expertly fused with romantic lyrics, and Will You Find Me? is similarly energetic, powered by snappy guitar riffs, while Dark Sound is the perfect lo-fi dance tune.

Martha’s Chekov’s Hangnail could very well be the stand out track of this release, exhibiting what is potentially their most catchy song to date, while Six Men Getting Sick Six Times (Mendable), is a charming stripped back pop song featuring the first rate line “Who needs Tenerife when you’ve got Whitley Bay?” Nobody! That’s who!

Radiator Hospital and Martha play Empty Shop, Durham on Sunday 8th November.
