Widely regarded as the definitive voice of the notoriously unpredictable French group Nouvelle Vogue, singer-songwriter Marina Celeste is bringing her unexpectedly soulful music to The Cluny in Newcastle on Friday 4th and the intimate confides of Stockton’s Green Room on Saturday 5th March.

With a singing voice that has been described as sounding like “the nonchalance of a summer caress and the sweetness of a forbidden fruit”, there’s a decidedly unpredictable element to Celeste’s music that makes her far, far more than just another songwriter with a golden voice. She’s not only taken influence from Amy Winehouse and Bjork, but also Bauhaus and Joy Division, and she can wittily take the most vicious songs by Buzzcocks, XTC and The Clash and cunningly transform them into masterworks of soul that truly become her own in the process. With four solo albums under her belt now, she’s proven to be every bit as prolific and as daring as the band which she truly defined the sound of, and this will promise to be an unpredictable and thoroughly intriguing evening.

Marina Celeste plays The Cluny, Newcastle on Friday 4th and The Green Room, Stockton on Saturday 5th March.
