Newcastle based charity Making Winter Warmer For Those Without is something our region should be immensely proud of, founded by North East based altruist Kerry Lister-Pattinson, it has developed into an 11,000 strong organisation, dedicated to doing all they can to make winter easier on those who may otherwise struggle massively through it. They’re putting on three shows between Tuesday 15th December and Thursday 17th December around Newcastle to raise money and help those most in need this festive season.

In 2014, over £400 was raised with the help of Newcastle based musician Alan Scorer, the money integral to helping the region’s homeless. Now, as 2015 draws to a close, and with so many people still in need, the charity have roped in more wonderful bands in the hope of drawing in equally giving audiences in some really special gigs, under the promise of Making Winter Louder.

The first of which sees four of the North East’s best up-and-coming rock bands play Trillians, with grunge influenced rock from Edenthorn;  Eujenics bring heavy riffs alongside melodic vocals; there’s progressive metal from Thesis Lives; while Ashes of Iron bringing a bluesy, slightly sleazy take on rock and roll, all on Tuesday 15th December.

Wednesday 16th December, sees a mod inspired night at The Cluny, with bouncy indie pop from The Heavy Jets; there’s the darker, more psychedelic Big Figure; classic mod inspired indie from The Middens, and Zeerox, with a heavy, solid rhythm section undercutting warped guitars.

The events come to a close, with Hip Hop Hooray, providing lots of hip-hop fun, with support from Just B & H Man at the Bridge Hotel on Thursday 17th December.

There aren’t many gigs that are going to see your ticket money go to a better cause, and with plenty of bang for your buck, tickets are available from all three venues now; with the money going towards the vital winter donation drive, and the annual Christmas service which includes Christmas dinner and life saving supplies to get through the cold winter months;, these are the perfect gigs to treat yourself to a ticket and avoid being a Scrooge.

Making Winter Louder comes to Trillians on Tuesday 15th December, The Cluny on Tuesday 16th December and Bridge Hotel on Wednesday 17th December.
