This year marks the 40th year for Rape Crisis Tyneside and Northumberland. There’s been a whole twelve months of events planned to fundraise around this, and next up it’s Sounds Of The Tyne on Thursday 28th June. The evening of music, dance, spoken-word and more is hosted and curated by Kathryn Tickell and Magnetic North East.

The magical evening is set to feature songstress Eve Simpson, whose tender tracks have earned much recognition already. There’s Slap Squeeze and Strum bringing music and theatre together with a new set of locally-influenced material stretching through folk songs and local heroes. Star & Shadow are a multi-award-winning rap sword dance team, with mesmerising acrobatic routines centred around steel blades. Add in the improvised music-making of Sesh Grenade and a real party to draw the majestic evening to a close and we’ve got something very special indeed.

Magnetic North in aid of Rape Crisis is at Tyne Bank Brewery, Newcastle on Thursday 28th June.
