Since being founded in 2002, the not-for-profit organisation LUX have built an international reputation from supporting and promoting artists working in the medium of moving image. It’s the only organisation of its kind in the UK and so have become a vital foundation for British artists looking to produce and distribute their work. Now LUX have come to the North East and are working in partnership with Northern Film & Media and the NewBridge Project to offer five artists no longer in full-time education the chance to attend a special one-to-one advice session on Friday 16th January.

The sessions are being hosted by the Director of LUX, Ben Cook, and their aim is to develop a wide-ranging dialogue around specific artists’ practices. This could include looking at and discussing work, discussing funding, gaining advice on production or promoting work.

Artists interested in attending one of the sessions must apply to become one of the lucky handful who can attend on the day, by sending in a CV and a 300-word description on why the session would be useful to you. But considering the sessions are completely free and it’s a chance to discuss your work with the director of one of the country’s most respected film organisations, it has to be worth taking a chance!

Deadlines for applications to the sessions is midday on Wednesday 7th January.

The advice sessions take place at the NewBridge Project, Newcastle on Friday 16th January.
