This isn’t Luckless‘ first visit to The Waiting Room, as a packed-out show in Summer 2015 showed the ever-evolving musical project spearheaded by Ivy Rossiter is always welcome at the Stockton venue. There’s a return visit on Sunday 20th November, alongside local gents Hold Music.

There’s a bluesy vibe to both, though Luckless takes things from melancholy and fascinatingly melodic, to raucous and rock and roll filled perfectly. Bristling with energy, there’s certainly elements of PJ Harvey to the one-woman Luckless’ sound, but it’s a sound that seems to evolve from track to track for music that enraptures in a variety of ways. Last album Vindication Blues is a real mix, with poppier melodies leading into softer, more brooding affairs. With support from the new project from members of Dressed Like Wolves, there’s an awesome show on offer from a musician who wasn’t visited in a while and some local favourites.

Luckless and Hold Music play The Waiting Room, Stockton on Sunday 20th November.
