Having staged successful events in both their hometown and the Big Smoke, DIY imprint Last Night From Glasgow venture across the border this month for their latest showcase, dubbed Our Friends In The North [East]. Hosted at Newcastle’s Cumberland Arms on Friday 28th June, the evening also marks the launch of local outfit Loudmammoth’s new single Let Go, which the label are issuing as a super limited edition pre-order only square-cut 7”.

Based between Gateshead and Sunderland, Loudmammoth formed last summer, and snared LNFG’s attentions early with March’s debut single, Enough. With pertinent touchstones such as The Pastels and The Vaselines, it’s little wonder the track’s vintage jangles struck a potent chord, while rough, unpolished edges additionally recall ‘90s slacker favourites like Pavement and Sebadoh.

Joining them on the bill are two of the finest from LNFG’s Scottish roster. Blending gorgeous electronics, skilfully honed guitars and Lily Higham’s ethereal vocals, L-Space offer a blissfully cinematic dream pop sound, integrating shades of post-rock, psychedelia and even trip-hop into a truly transcendent sonic brew. Opening, meanwhile, is the inimitable Stephen Solo, whose entire catalogue was recorded using his trusty iPhone 6 – predominantly via the Garage Band app. How will those idiosyncratic delights translate onstage? Get down early and find out for yourself!
