Psych fan and promoter extraordinaire Brian Barnes has been making forays into the weird and wonderful world of experimental sounds for quite some time now under his Lost In The Woods promotions moniker. This year the usually venue-based festival lives up to its name and ventures outside, taking its line-up of psych-fuelled sounds and musical meanderings to Sentry Circle, at Lenthor Farm in Northallerton from Friday 1st until Sunday 3rd July.

Friday night’s line-up is full of DJ-based goodness from Syaha Sound System, Koast Radio, Artikal Vibes, Kodiak, Simian Sound System and many more. Saturday’s musical joy comes in the form of headliners Suns of Arqa, aka ‘creator and mentor’ Michael Wadada, whose fusion of world beats and ambient dub styles centres on classical and tribal folk traditions. Also performing are Glasgow’s garage rockers The Mushroom Club, local space rockers Silver Trees, the loop mastery of Fading Face, shoegazey loveliness from Newcastle’s Parastatic, stoner rock from Hartlepool’s First Process Church of Mars and Teesside supergroup The Magick Godmothers among many others. After Saturday’s aural assault, Sunday’s chilled acoustic jams, yoga and strong coffee will provide the perfect comedown accompaniment.

The location’s a proper corker too – a stone circle situated in the heart of the North Yorkshire countryside, it’s bound to offer some seriously spiritual vibes to go along with the mind melting music.

Lost In The Woods Festival takes place from Friday 1st until Sunday 3rd July at Sentry Circle, Lenthor Farm, Northallerton.
