Reliably informed

An exciting new project is set to wow two North East venues, as Living Body explores the pop song in a uniquely imaginative way, with shows at Cluny in Newcastle on Friday 29th July and Pop Recs in Sunderland on Saturday 30th of July.

Leeds-based Chicagoan Jeff T. Smith (formerly, Juffage) and longtime collaborators Katie Harkin (Harkin, Sky Larkin, Wild Beasts, Sleater-Kinney) and Tom Evans (Vessels) and new live members Alice Rowan (Mayshe-Mayshe) & Sarah Statham (Esper Scout) explore the need for music as a harbinger of joy to people. Living Body seeks to be an overload to the senses and the bewitching sounds are truly incredible. They’re joined for the date at The Cluny by instumental guitarist Haythem and the experimental improv of Ten Sticks, who also play the Pop Recs date. The Sunderland show also welcomes meditative pop from Mayshe-Mayshe and local favourite Rhys Patterson. This is unique, quirky and beguiling music at its very best and most creative, and both shows will be stand-outs given the talent on display. For such ambient beauty, there’s a chance some boundaries will be pushed and conventions utterly smashed in two truly memorable evenings.

Living Body play Cluny, Newcastle on Friday 29th July and Pop Recs, Sunderland on Saturday 30th July.
