If you haven’t heard of the Live Lab before, then here’s the perfect opportunity to have a pop down the Live Theatre and see what all the fuss is about. Live Lab, which has a week of relaunch events starting from Sunday 25th January, is an innovative and vital part of the Live Theatre’s programme. It offers a forum for those involved in stage and spoken word productions to try out their material and gain constructive feedback, creating a dialogue between the performer and the audience.

The week of events kicks off with 10 Minutes To… Take Off on Sunday 25th January. A regular part of the Live Lab’s work, 10 Minutes To asks writers to come up with a short play which, you guessed it, lasts ten minutes. The catch is, they have to fit in with the theme of Take Off! This has been interpreted in different ways by the five writers who are taking part in Sunday’s session – Dave Raynor, Rebeka Bowsher, Josh Coats, Nina Berry and Ali Pritchard – ensuring it’ll be an entertaining night of new work.

On Tuesday 29th January, there’ll be a first chance to see some brand new works in progress at the regular Scratch Night. Not only will you be able to see some upcoming works but the audience are also given the chance to help shape the future of the productions through their feedback.

Finally, on Friday 30th January, it’s the official Launch Event. Some of the UK’s best and most influential writers are coming down to help celebrate the re-launch in what is essentially a party for theatre lovers. Alongside bite-size performances of new works there’ll be a chance to share ideas in a more informal environment and an opportunity to help pick the theme of the next 10 Minutes To… in June.

Live Lab’s Re-Launch week starts on Sunday 25th January at Live Theatre, Newcastle.
