Despite the dire state of the live music industry this year, SSD Concerts managed to have a pretty decent summer thanks to their ground-breaking socially-distanced shows at Virgin Money Unity Arena. They’re clearly not resting on their laurels, as the promoters today announce the return of their Live From Times Square events next summer.

Taking place opposite the Centre for Life in Newcastle city centre, the 5,000 capacity gigs will feature live shows from Aussie rock three-piece DMA’S on Wednesday 4th August, pop queen Becky Hill on Thursday 5th August and Massachusetts melodic rockers Pixes on Friday 6th August.

SSD Concerts’ Steve Davis says of the announcement: “We’re super excited to welcome back Live From Times Square. We’ve had some iconic shows at this event in the past with the likes of Fatboy Slim and Manic Street Preachers and we’re looking forward to many more nights like those.  Our team is fully committed to getting the live music scene back in action and thriving once again and we’re delighted to welcome an all-star cast of headliners in Pixies, Becky Hill and DMA’S.”

It remains to be seen if there will be any Covid-related restrictions in place by the time the gigs roll around, but for now it’s heartening to see such large-capacity shows being programmed in the City, with many more expected over the coming months.

Tickets for the shows go on sale at 10am on Friday 6th November.
