Darlington’s Soapbox Sessions are the most diverse open mic nights in the North East. Every Sunday sees them take over the Hole In The Wall tavern and, yes, while some nights are standard singer-songwriter fare, they’re becoming known for throwing a curve ball more often than not. Sunday 18th March is one of those occasions, as the night is taken over by Legitimate Anarchy Records.

Growing from a loose collective of rappers and producers into a fully-fledged record label, Legitimate Anarchy currently has two artists on its roster, both of whom appear tonight. Darlington MC Endem released one of the best records of 2017 in Planning Permission. Walking a mazy line between lightness, darkness, frustration, anger and nihilism, it’s a record that manages to shock and thrill in equal measure. Also playing on the night is Blackpool’s Leum who produced the record. It’s a rare opportunity to see Legitimate Anarchy in the wild and one that you should definitely take.

Support comes from 90BRO, Shakk, E-Mence and Chris Davison with Leum spinning tunes in between sets. The evening will be rounded off with a cypher which, for the uninitiated, is a chance for other rappers to spit a few bars.
