Not many stand-up comedians can boast of knocking out WWE superstars for a living (not many people full stop, actually), but Lee Kyle is just such a man. Not because he’s got a mean streak, but because he used to be a professional wrestler himself.

The Jarrow-based comic spent ten years as a wrestler, so it stands to reason his debut comedy show should draw influence from his past career. “The show is called Ultimate Worrier,” he says, “and it’s basically about my personal anxieties and how I worry about everything. My wrestling career comes into that, of course – and there are lots of nice wrestling stories in there – but I didn’t want to make the show full of wrestling in-jokes.”

Adept at playing up to a crowd, his first solo show will see the quirky comedian attempting to get the audience rolling in the aisles for all the right reasons at The Stand, Newcastle on Tuesday 7th April.
