Making pitch-perfect acoustic pop is a hard thing to do. Imagine doing it before you’re even thirteen. Leddra Chapman, acoustic darling and talented singer-songwriter, has been doing just that. Since picking up a guitar before she was a teenager, the songstress has penned a mountain of songs and produced a string of albums. After breaking through as a young woman in 2009, Chapman has seen her songs be championed by respected radio personalities, gained slots playing on major TV shows and has headed out on a series of packed UK tours.

Continually developing as an artist, the years have seen Chapman blossom from an innocent purveyor of sweet ditties into a more hardened songwriter with a steelier edge (think a more pop version of Laura Marling and you’re halfway there). She recorded her latest LP My Mother’s Mind with funds from Pledgemusic, a campaign that saw her reach her monetary target almost in the blink of an eye.

She’s now bringing her brand of acoustic pop diamonds to Tyneside, where she’ll be showcasing tracks from the new LP and dusting off some old gems.

Leddra Chapman plays at The Cluny 2, Newcastle on Sunday 15th February.
