Laura Marling has announced a short run of intimate solo shows this spring that follow directly on from her current full band tour and will be hitting up ARC in Stockton-on-Tees on Friday 24th March.
With an extensive back catalogue of highly regarded records to her name already, Marling releases her latest album Semper Femina out now. Something of a concept piece, Semper Femina is Marling’s take on womanhood and a particularly “masculine time in her life […] I started out writing Semper Feminia as if a man was writing about a woman, and then I thought, it’s not a man, it’s me.”
Recent single Soothing was a jarring, bass heavy excursion into what you could almost call organic trip-hop that brings to mind the most affecting and cerebral of the nineties Bristol scene: an absolute stunner, basically. If you need more of an excuse to get down to this, just consider the track record; three Mercury Music Prize nominations, four BRIT nominations and a win alongside an NME trophy for Best British Female on her mantelpiece. An amazing opportunity to get up close and personal to one of the most prolific and consistent performers the country has seen in recent years.
