British director James D. Cooper is about to take us on an amazing and surprising ride about two men who shaped one of the most exciting bands of a generation. If you haven’t worked it out from their names yet, this duo discovered, mentored and managed a band who would become an icon for a whole generation and are still going strong today, fifty years down the line.

Yes, Chris Stamp and Kit Lambert were aspiring filmmakers from opposite sides of the tracks who just happened to stumble across a young version of The Who, then called the High Numbers. Their rebellious, restless sound was just what they were looking for and, after rechristening them with their now legendary moniker, Lambert & Stamp left their mark on musical history. This documentary stars Lambert and Stamp themselves and features Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend as Cooper takes us on the universal search for the sensitive and the frightening bonds that help us to reach the pinnacle of creativity.

Lambert & Stamp comes to the Tyneside Cinema on Friday 22nd May.
