Kodaline are embarking on a headline tour this month after the successful release of their second album Coming Up for Air. Although they’ve often drawn comparisons to acts like Coldplay, Kodaline’s sound is more sad and sentimental in style, with an unexpectedly upbeat edge.

Support comes from Sykes and The Mispers, two bands from London looking to make their mark in 2015. Sykes’ powerful and distinctive female vocals are comparable to the likes of CHVRCHES and The xx, thanks to uplifting guitar lines and engaging synth beats. Their new release Gold Dust is particularly striking, with an upbeat and catchy melody and memorable lyrics.

The Mispers were listed as one of XFM’s great X-Pectations for 2015, and are regularly regarded as the ‘Ones to Watch’; even Zane Lowe has made no secret of his love for them. With a guitar sound akin to The 1975, lead singer Jack Scott has more than a touch of Jack White in him. They’re a must for fans of urgent and vibrant indie.

Kodaline, The Mispers and Sykes play at Newcastle’s O2 Academy on Monday 16th March.
