After a slight delay, Newcastle’s Kobadelta are finally set to unleash their new extended player, The Metaphysical, on Friday 4th November. Available on digital and CD formats, the release party at Head of Steam looks set to be a storming evening of psych and alternative noise.
The first track from the EP, You Don’t Need To Ask, is an atmospheric but unsettling dark ode to love that sounds like the internal monologue running through a stalkers’ head as he rummages through your bins – but in a good way. Thunderous percussion, flailing guitar and restrained piano back up Dom Noble’s insistent, louche vocal line that will have you looking behind you all the way home.
Support on the night comes from indie outfits Hazels, Tyneside alt. rockers Crying Lions and Cramlington’s post-rock emo slingers Fear Of The Ocean. Entrance to the gig is £4 but if you pre-order the EP online then you’ll receive free entry, so there’s really no excuse for you to not give your PayPal account a mild tickling and get down to see some of the best up-and-coming North-East bands.
