An evening of musical improvisations and original compositions comes to The Globe in Newcastle on Friday 24th June. Koan brings together four incredible performances from musicians noted for clarity, spaciousness and innovation.

Hapsburg Braganza headlines, bringing a sound drawing on minimalism and psychedelia, with a unique quality through guitars and electronics. The other acts performing are Paul Taylor the acclaimed improvising pianist, Zassō Fūkei a thought provoking experimental musician and Jewel, the ambient jazz duo (Davy Sax and trubba not). The night is centred on freely improvising artists, but with a conscious attempt to create a meditative experience to celebrate the longest day of the year with a concentration on openness and space. It’s a gig that offers such a rare, one-off experience, it’s what summer evenings should be all about.
